11/30: NYDLC Joint Legislative Affairs-Minority Voting Rights Meeting

The meeting begins at 6:30 PM. Due to the Christmas Tree lighting at Rockefeller Ctr, we encourage those attending in person to arrive early, and to use the alternate entrances listed here to access the building, instead of the main entrance.

Anyone who wants to avoid the crowds is welcome to dial in by phone. The number is emailed once you RSVP.

2016 was a critical year for the modern voting rights struggle--A struggle that is sure to intensify in 2017. RSVP below!

Advances in universal automatic voter registration helped modernize our election administration system in several states, while restrictive voting laws in many parts of the country were revealed for what they were--thinly-veiled attempts to suppress the vote among certain populations. In many cases, these laws were successfully challenged and struck down by courts that were willing to jettison the traditional deference given to state legislatures, in light of evidence that such laws were conceived and enacted in bad faith, and due to the compelling fundamental rights at stake for milions of Americans.

Join NYDLC on Weds., November 30th for a joint meeting of our Legislative Affairs and Minority Voting Rights Committees to discuss our 2017 advocacy and voter empowerment agenda. We will be refocusing our efforts on releasing our National Voting Rights Agenda, planning our pro-voter advocacy day in Albany, and discussing several new pro-voter initiatives that we will offer to members in 2017.

NYDLC continues to advocate for convenient pro-voter reforms like bringing Early Vote to New York (a goal NYDLC has pursued for several years), revolutionizing the way we register voters by enacting a system of automatic voter registration, same-day registration, simplified ballot design, registration portability, online registration, pre-registration for the next generation of voters, and more.

But these are big priorities, and we can't achieve them without your relentless dedication, active participation, and continued support. RSVP below to join our planning meeting.

Dial in option: If you can't attend in person, you may join the meeting by phone. Please RSVP below and you will receive credentials for the call.
